September 16, 2008 general membership meeting of
Iowa Voices for Quality Child Care was called to order at
6:48 p.m. by co-chair Brenda Nelson with the following people
present: Sandy Langenberg, Allison Crawford, Mira Sahu,
Diana Riahi, Alicia Weithers, April Kirchoff, Patty Smith,
Brenda OHalloran, Brenda Nelson, Louise Rhode, Mari Howell-Verry
and Rhonda Taylor.

Louise read the minutes from August general membership. A

Motioned carried.

Brenda Nelson made a motion to extend the deadline for
restaurant food coupons for the 4Cs appreciation basket, 2nd
by Louise Rhode. Motion carried.

April Kirchoff suggested creating a wreath that would
attractively display the coupons. Members were in favor of
the idea and April agreed to organize the display.

Sandy Langenberg, Treasurer, gave the treasurer’s report
with a current bank balance of $1287.83 the same as last months
as she has not deposited membership dues or coupon book
money yet.

Brenda OHalloran proposed the idea of having a printed
treasurer's report to create a better paper trail for the
group since we are operating as a non-profit. After some
discussion, a motion was made by Brenda Nelson and seconded
by Mari Howell-Verry to have quarterly printed treasurer's
reports presented at board of director’s meetings.

Patty, Records Coordinator, stated that she will now have a
sign up sheet to record official attendance at all committee,
board meetings and fun events in addition to the general

Louise Rhode, co-chair, reported that it was decided at the
Sept BOD meeting that we would re-locate our meetings to the
Coralville Library to accommodate members who requested a more
centralized location. We will re-evaluate the meeting location
in the future to see if the central location increases attendance.

IFCCA Board meeting has been re-scheduled for October 11 in
Iowa City. It was brought to our attention that April K, who
was going to be our representative, is not an IFCCA member and
so cannot represent our group at the board meeting. The group
decided we may not be able to send a representative to this
particular board meeting due to scheduling conflicts.

Louise Rhode, co-chair, gave an update about the 4Cs Resource
Center:

The Cri-cut machine, cartridges, and packets are ready to go
and the following schedule of IAEYC, IAVQCC, and HACCPN members
are slated to host the sessions.

Sept 10, 20 Susan Gray, Nancy Lilienthal (IAEYC)

Oct. 8, 18 Sandy Langenberg, April Kirchoff (IAVQCC)

Nov 5, 15 Brenda Nelson, Louise Rhode (IAVQCC)

Dec 10, 20 Jill Dodds, Michelle Wilkinson (HACCPN)

4Cs said they would plan for the second half of these sessions
after holding several of them.

Brenda Nelson, co-chair presented a sample ballot for the
group to look at and reminded those present that members
eligible to vote and will be unable to attend the October
meeting may request an absentee ballot be sent to them. She
also reminded those present that these ballots need to be
mailed to Amanda Swenka and received prior to the October
meeting.

New Business:

Brenda OHalloran asked if the group would be interested in
sponsoring a welcome event at the Iowa AEYC conference in
Des Moines on October 10 at Jordan Creek Mall. Louise R,
Brenda O, Brenda N, and Alicia W are all attending the
conference and volunteered to help at the event. Allison Crawford
made a motion that the group sponsor the Friday night event by
allocating $100 to pay for the room, 2nd by Louise Rhode.
Motion carried. Louise will send a check to Iowa AEYC.

April Kirchoff checked into the gift wrapping fundraiser at
Coral Ridge Mall. She is waiting for paper work and additional
information to be sent to her. It was also mentioned that
Sycamore Mall also has a need for gift wrappers. The group
felt that Coral Ridge Mall would be more profitable.

Brenda Nelson reported that the Walden Book Store fundraiser
we talked about at Sept Board meeting would allow us to hand
out coupons in the mall but not in the store. The group
decided to re-consider this fund raiser idea until next fall.

Business portion of the meeting was tabled at 7:35 for a brief
break and then training topic of Art: Process vs. Product
presented by Louise Rhode and Brenda OHalloran.

Business was not resumed after training.

Motion to adjourn meeting at 9:08 by Brenda Nelson and 2nd by
Sandy Langenberg. Motion carried.

Respectfully submitted by:
Brenda OHalloran
Internet Services Coordinator
